Anthony M. "Tony" Everett, President & CEO. Tony Everett was appointed President & CEO in October 2016. He has been with Neighbor To Family since 2003 and was formerly NTF's Vice President of Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina programs. Everett holds a Masters in Professional Counseling from Argosy University and a Bachelors in Psychology from Georgia State University.
James L. “Jamie” Akins, III, Chief of Staff, joined Neighbor To Family in 2005 as a Case Manager for the sibling foster care model program in Daytona, moving up the ranks to Executive Director and Vice President prior to his current position. Akins earned a Masters in Social Work from University of Central Florida.
Chris Gurley, Director of IT, came to Neighbor To Family in this role in May 2015. He previously served the organization in LAN support and has many years of experience in network administration. Gurley earned his Associate in Business Information Systems degree from Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton, N.C.
Jamila Hankins, Vice President of Georgia and Maryland Programs, has been with Neighbor To Family since 2004. She served as Director of Operations in the Atlanta office from 2008 until her appointment as Vice President in 2016. Hankins holds a Ph.D. in Social Work Policy, Planning, and Administration from Clark University.
Gaye D. James, Vice President of Continuous Quality Improvement and Training, joined Neighbor To Family in 2009 and has most recently served as Director- Office of Quality Improvement. James earned a Master of Arts from Wright State University and served in a number of private sector and academic positions before coming to the organization.
Mark L. Moor became Vice President/Finance and Chief Financial Officer in 2013. Mark received an Master's in Business Administration from Stetson University. He previously held key administrative positions at Florida Hospital-Deland, American Red Cross - Coast to Coast Chapter, and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.
Kelly Morgan, Assistant to the President, began her career at Neighbor To Family in 1999 and was promoted to her current position in 2004. She holds an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Humanities from Lackawanna College.
Reginald "Reggie" Williams, Vice President of Human Resources, joined Neighbor To Family in 2014. Prior experience includes serving as CEO for the Children’s Advocacy Center, Florida Dept. of Children and Families District Administrator and 30 years of experience with the County of Volusia in progressively responsible positions. Williams earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of Central Florida.
Gordon Johnson, M.Ed., LLD Founder & first President and CEO of Neighbor To Family, Inc.
Gordon Johnson began his career in 1959 as a cottage officer at the Jamesburg (PA) State Home for Boys and rose through the ranks in child welfare agencies in Pennsylvania, New York and Florida. In 1983, he was appointed Director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, where he was responsible for 600,000 children in state custody.
Mr. Johnson left DCFS in 1990 to become President/CEO of Jane Addams Hull House Association in Chicago. In 1994, he created a new approach to foster care, the Neighbor To Neighbor program, that enabled sibling groups to be placed together, and remain together, in a single foster home. In 1998, Mr. Johnson was asked to bring the program to the Daytona Beach area, where in 2000 it was incorporated as a private, not-for-profit organization, Neighbor To Family, Inc. Today, Neighbor To Family has programs in three states and serves more than 350 abused and neglected children and their families.
Mr. Johnson passed away after a brief illness in November 2015.
